Our Mission
The Mower County Humane Society is dedicated to providing compassionate care and shelter to homeless dogs and cats from Mower County until they can be placed in responsible forever homes. We strive to reduce pet homelessness by actively promoting, facilitating, and sponsoring spay and neuter activities within our community.
Our History and Community
Founded in 1950 and based in Austin, Minnesota, we are a fully independent, all-volunteer, non-profit, no-kill shelter. Our organization relies on the support of our community to continue the important work of advocating for our animal companions.
Our Care Model
We believe in creating a safe, comfortable environment for the animals in our care while they wait for their new families. Our facility, located in Austin, features dedicated spaces including a cat wall, colony rooms, a cozy 'catio,' and specialized dog runs. Every animal at our shelter receives vaccinations and spay or neuter services prior to adoption.
