Midwest Animal Rescue & Services (MARS) is dedicated to saving animals, uplifting people, and building a better future through connecting, healing, and empowering our community. We believe that helping animals and supporting the people who love them are two sides of the same coin, and we are committed to serving both with every act of kindness.
Founded in 2006, MARS has spent 20 years showing up for animals who had nowhere else to turn. We understand that life can bring unexpected challenges, which is why we provide a safety net of resources, education, and accessible veterinary care to ensure pets and their families can stay together whenever possible.
We are a 100% foster-based rescue, meaning we do not operate a traditional public shelter with cold kennels. Instead, our animals live in real homes while they wait for their forever families, allowing us to learn their unique personalities, routines, and needs in a supportive, real-life setting. This environment is complemented by our nonprofit veterinary clinic in Brooklyn Park, which ensures that every pet receives high-quality medical attention from intake through their transition to a new home.
We believe that successful adoptions happen when pets and people are set up for lasting success. Our placement team works thoughtfully to create matches that honor each animal's history and each adopter's lifestyle, ensuring that once a MARS pet, always a MARS pet. We are here to guide you through a transparent and supportive process, from your first application to welcoming your new family member home.
