We are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment for domestic dogs and cats until they find their forever families. We are deeply committed to promoting responsible pet ownership throughout our community.
Founded on April 13, 1998, by a group of caring individuals, our society was born from a need to protect homeless and lost animals. For our first nine years, we relied on a dedicated network of foster homes to care for our animals. In 2007, thanks to a generous building fund contribution from Joan Fjoslien and many local supporters, we opened our own facility in Elbow Lake to better house and serve those in need.
As an Adoption Guarantee shelter, we are fully committed to finding a loving home for every healthy and treatable animal in our care, regardless of how long it takes. Our dedicated team and volunteers provide medical care, social interaction, and a safe place to reside while our animals await their new chapters. We operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, funded by our community members, donors, and fundraisers.
We believe that every adoption is a joyful partnership, which is why we prioritize careful, thoughtful matching for both the pet and the household. Our adoption process includes health screenings, microchipping, and ensuring every animal is spayed or neutered before heading home, so you can focus on building a lasting bond. When you adopt from us, you aren't just gaining a companion—you are giving a deserving animal the happy ending they have been waiting for.
