Every Pet Deserves a Home

At the Martin County Humane Society, our mission is to ensure every animal that comes through our doors is placed in a responsible, loving home. We believe every pet has a story, and we are dedicated to helping them find their happy ending.

Our History and Community Commitment

Our organization is proud to operate the Carl Nettifee Memorial Animal Shelter, which was constructed in honor of a local animal control officer who pioneered our values. Carl’s lifelong love for animals remains the heart of our work, driving us to continue his legacy of care for stray and homeless animals throughout Martin County.

How We Help

As the county and city impound facility, we provide a safe harbor for stray animals and welcome owner surrenders when space allows. Our facility acts as a place of transition, ensuring that every animal receives proper veterinary care and attention during their stay with us. We are proud to also offer specialized initiatives, such as our Farm Cat Program, which provides outdoor-skilled felines a chance to thrive in a managed, appropriate environment.

The Adoption Partnership

We view adoption as a meaningful partnership and strive to make the best possible matches for both our pets and our adopters. By utilizing an application process, our members work carefully to ensure each animal is placed in a home that can meet their unique needs for the rest of their lives. We value the patience of our community as we conduct reference checks to help ensure a successful, lifelong transition for our residents.

Join Us in Making a Difference

Whether you are ready to welcome a new member to your fur-family, interested in volunteering, or want to become a member, there are many ways to get involved. We invite you to explore our adoptable pets on Petfinder, visit our shelter during our public hours, or reach out to us at 507-238-1885 to learn more about our upcoming events and how you can support our mission.
