The Bitty Kitty Brigade is a dedicated foster-based rescue focused on improving survival rates for orphaned neonatal kittens in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. We provide a safe, nurturing environment for kittens ages 0 to 6 weeks, ensuring they grow into healthy, happy companions.
Our History and Mission
Founded in 2018 by Joan Barrett and Mandy Dwyer, our mission is to offer high-quality care to vulnerable kittens who are not yet eating on their own. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, we partner with animal rescue organizations and local impounds to provide a second chance for the tiniest, neediest kittens in our community.
A Foster-Based Commitment
We believe that every kitten thrives best in a loving home environment. Our rescue is entirely volunteer-run, with all of our kittens cared for in foster homes where they receive specialized nutrition and essential medical attention. This model ensures that each kitten is socialized and healthy before joining their forever family.

One nonprofit, Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue, raised more than $1,200 through a warm-water dog wash at Frattallone’s Hardware, according to GABA Executive Director Kim O’Brien, while other activities raised hundreds of dollars for participating shelters and rescue organizations.
