Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society
Our Mission
The Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society (BENCHS) is dedicated to finding loving forever homes for homeless cats and dogs while cultivating compassion and strengthening the human-animal bond. We believe that every pet deserves a second chance at life and a place to belong.
Our Journey and Purpose
Founded in 1974, BENCHS has grown from a small, volunteer-run organization into a vital community resource. We serve the people and animals of our community by providing essential, life-saving programs for thousands of homeless, injured, or abandoned animals every year.
How We Care for Our Pets
Operating as a limited-admission shelter, we are committed to providing quality care for all healthy and treatable pets. Our modern facility in Mankato is home to our daily operations, where we utilize best practices in animal welfare, including our own in-house surgical suite for spay and neuter services. We rely on the generous support of our community to ensure every animal receives the medical treatment and love they deserve while awaiting their permanent family.
The Joy of Adoption
Adopting a companion animal is one of the most rewarding journeys you can undertake. We believe each animal is an individual with a unique personality, and our team is here to help you find the perfect match for your lifestyle. Whether you are looking for a playful dog or a cozy cat, that special friend is waiting to meet you.
