Our Story
Founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds, we have grown from a rescue into a one-of-a-kind animal well-being organization. Over the last 15 years, our journey has been guided by the realization that the connections we form with animals have the power to transform lives and create a more harmonious world.
How We Work
The Bond Between is a foster-based organization, relying on the compassion of our community to provide safe, temporary homes for our rescues. We believe in being a comprehensive resource, providing proper veterinary care and daily necessities while also offering community support services like a pet food shelf and respite foster care to keep existing families whole.

10/18 - Marvin, Willard, and Bongo all have something in common… THEY GOT ADOPTED TODAY 🥳🥰👏 Good Charlotte, Abby, and Oakley have something in common too… they weren’t chosen 🥺 Today, they sat and watched. They watched as people came in and left without them… as they left with their friends. They watched people walk away after a quick pet… wondering what they did wrong 🥺 The other thing that these three dogs have in common? They are all basically pawfect. Each one just wanting to cuddle and play… and love. Their bodies might be little, but they have a lot of love to give. Will you help us find Good Charlotte, Abby, and Oakley their homes? 🙏❤️

10/14 - One of the most common reasons people choose to not adopt is because they want a puppy. They want that bond to start as soon as possible. We get it, but the good news?! Rescue has puppies ALL the time. Puppies from every range. Newborns, to ready to go home at 8 weeks, to 9 month old potty trained babies. You can still adopt a puppy and get your bestie today ❤️

10/11 - Meet Mama Kira and her crew of T E N littles 🥹🥰 Kira is a 2 year old Airedale Terrier and her cuties are 6.5 weeks old. Their names might be our new favorite tongue twister… try saying all their names ten times fast 😉

10/9 - Meet the 10 friends from this mornings intake that are still looking for their foster family 🥹 Today, they watched 19 of their friends get picked up. They watched 19 of their friends go home. They watched 19 of their friends be chosen. Will you choose them?! 🙏 Our staff and volunteers LOVE visiting and hanging out with our office doggos, but they’d love it even more if these faces found foster families 🥰

10/8 - At 6.5 years old, Barry hasn’t had an easy life… but he hasn’t let it stop him 🥺 Barry came from a hoarding situation. He never got the chance to learn how to be a dog. He never learned what safety is. He never learned what love truly was. We don’t know if he was born with his leg deformity or if something happened to cause it. The good news? After our vet team evaluated him, they were able to determine that it doesn’t impact him. His paw just looks different, but it doesn’t hurt him. It doesn’t slow him down. He is exploring the world around him. He army crawls through the grass to get belly rubs 🥹 He walks well on a leash and greets other dogs. He is slowly learning that he is safe. That he is loved. That life can be soft, cozy, and warm 🥰

10/5 - Meet the four dogs that didn’t find their foster family yesterday 🥺 Over the weekend, we had more than 20 animals that needed a foster… so we hosted a Foster Open House. So, what is a Foster Open House?! It’s an event where we welcome fosters into the office to meet available foster animals. This gives them the chance to interact with an animal before choosing to foster them… which helps ensure they are a good match. And the good news?! Most of our animals found fosters 🤩 All except these four: Lemmy. Barry. Moxi. Todd. These dogs are still searching for their foster family. Will you help us find them?! 🙏🥰
