The Wadena County Humane Society is dedicated to saving the lives of companion animals, finding forever homes for forsaken pets, and advocating for responsible animal guardianship in our community. Every day, our primary goal is to bring love and sunshine into the lives of the animals in our care.
Founded in 1997 through the commitment of dedicated local volunteers, we remain a 100 percent independently funded organization. We are proud to operate with no relationship to the Humane Society of the United States, relying instead on the generosity of our supporters and the passion of our volunteers to continue our vital work.
We provide a safe, nurturing environment for owner surrenders, strays, and animals at risk at other facilities when we have the space. Beyond shelter, we offer essential medical care, including vaccinations and microchipping, and utilize a foster network that allows pets to thrive in home environments while awaiting their perfect match. This combination of shelter care and foster support ensures every animal receives the individualized attention they deserve.
Adoption is a lifelong promise of love and friendship, and we strive to make this experience joyful for both you and your new companion. We believe in the power of thoughtful, careful matching to ensure that every pet finds the right home for their unique personality and needs. Whether you are looking for a playful puppy or a senior friend, our team is here to help you navigate this transition with guidance and support.
We invite you to meet our available pets and become a part of our extended family. Please reach out to us by phone or email, or visit us in Wadena to learn more about how you can support our mission, whether through adoption, volunteering, or fostering. Together, we can light the way for these wonderful animals on their journey home.
