The Humane Society of Kandiyohi & Meeker Counties is dedicated to providing a safe, sheltering haven for lost, abandoned, and stray animals while promoting the deep, reciprocal bond between humans and their animal companions. We believe that every pet deserves a nurturing environment as they wait to find their perfect, permanent home.
Since finding our permanent home in 2009, we have grown into a dedicated non-profit organization serving our community with a 5,000-square-foot facility designed for animal care. We address an essential community need by providing refuge, nourishment, and affection to animals in transition, supported by the unwavering generosity of our volunteers and donors.
We operate as a brick-and-mortar shelter where each animal receives high-standard care, including veterinary examinations, vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and microchipping. Beyond our shelter walls, we rely on a compassionate network of foster homes and dedicated staff to ensure our residents feel loved and secure. This balance of professional medical attention and human affection ensures every animal is prepared for their next chapter.
Adoption is the beginning of a lifelong journey, and we prioritize finding the right match for both your family and the animal. Because we want to ensure a successful, lasting connection, we facilitate all adoptions through in-person staff interviews rather than online applications. This thoughtful approach allows us to get to know your unique situation so we can help you find a companion who will thrive in your care.
Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in volunteering, or want to contribute to our mission, we welcome you to visit us at our Willmar shelter. Please explore our current list of adoptable pets or call us at 320-235-7612 to learn how you can help us save more lives today.
