Copiah Animal Shelter is a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to providing medical care and sanctuary to lost and abandoned animals while we search for their permanent, loving homes. We are proud to support Copiah County, Mississippi, and its surrounding communities by ensuring every animal in our care receives the compassion and second chance they truly deserve.
Founded in 2011 by a group of concerned citizens led by Dr. Beckey Holifield, our organization was built on the belief that responsible communities must provide humane treatment for homeless dogs and cats. Since those humble beginnings, we have grown into a community-sustained 501(c)(3) organization that relies entirely on the generosity of supporters, dedicated volunteers, and private grants.
As a limited-intake shelter, we operate with a deep commitment to quality care, utilizing both our facility in Crystal Springs and a network of foster families. We believe in transparency and efficiency, and we are constantly working to improve our space—including our new, expanded kennel building—to better serve the animals in our care. Our team ensures that each resident receives vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and necessary veterinary treatment as part of our commitment to their well-being.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to finding the perfect match between our animals and their new families. Our dedicated representatives work closely with every potential adopter to understand their lifestyle, ensuring that every placement is set up for a lifetime of happiness. We are honored to facilitate the bonds that change lives—one animal at a time.
We invite you to browse our current pet listings online or visit us in Crystal Springs to meet your new best friend. If you cannot adopt, consider volunteering, donating, or fostering to help us continue our vital work. Your support helps us give these wonderful animals the future they deserve.
