We believe every companion animal deserves to be wanted and cared for, and we are committed to ensuring no animal in our care is killed due to a lack of space.
Our Story and Mission
Founded in 1985, Second Chance has grown to become the largest animal rescue organization in mid-Missouri. We exist to advance and support the bond between people and their companion dogs and cats, ensuring that both pets and their owners have access to the resources they need to thrive.
Our Care Model
We believe in providing the highest standards of medical care, nutrition, and socialization for every animal we rescue. Because we are a foster-based organization, the vast majority of our dogs and many of our cats reside in loving homes throughout the local community, learning how to be part of a family before they are adopted. Our 30-acre Boonville location provides a beautiful, modern space for our Kitty Kondos and serves as a vital hub for animal intake and community events.
