Since 1985, the New Nodaway Humane Society has been dedicated to giving shelter and care to lost, abused, or unwanted dogs and cats. We advocate for the humane treatment of all animals and strive to reduce overpopulation through successful spaying and neutering programs.
Founded in Maryville, Missouri, to provide a vital service for our region, our organization has grown into a Best Friends Animal Society recognized no-kill shelter. Our facility, constructed in 2003, serves as a safe haven where compassionate staff and dedicated volunteers work together to provide care for over 750 animals each year.
We believe every animal deserves a second chance at a happy life. Our no-kill facility is 7,488 square feet, featuring dedicated nurseries, quarantine rooms, and separate, spacious areas for dogs and cats. Because we receive no funding from the Humane Society of the United States or federal governments, we rely on the generous support of our local community to provide the daily care, vaccinations, and microchipping our residents need while they wait for their forever families.
We are committed to making thoughtful matches that ensure a lifetime of happiness for both you and your new companion. Our team takes the time to get to know each animal's personality, and we encourage potential adopters to meet our residents in person to find that perfect, joyful connection. Whether you are seeking an adventure buddy or a professional lap warmer, we are here to guide you through the process.
Ready to meet your new family member? We invite you to explore our available dogs and cats online or visit us at our shelter on South Depot Street in Maryville. Your journey to finding a new best friend starts here, and we cannot wait to help you make that connection.
