The Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter (FOPAS) is dedicated to providing compassionate care and finding permanent, loving homes for abandoned and stray animals. Because animals cannot speak for themselves, we exist to be their voice, acting with humanity and care to ensure every pet finds their place.
Founded in 1999 by a group of concerned citizens, we believe that our entire community benefits from the compassion shown toward animals who have been discarded. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we remain committed to treating each animal with dignity and respect as they await their next chapter.
Our work is powered by a dedicated team of volunteers and the generosity of our supporters. We operate a shelter located in Parkville, Missouri, and utilize a network of foster homes to provide a safe, nurturing environment for our animals while they prepare for adoption. Every pet in our care receives medical attention, including spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping.
We believe in the power of thoughtful, personalized matching. Our volunteers carefully screen potential adopters to ensure that every pet finds a home that perfectly suits their personality, lifestyle, and activity level. This intentional process is our way of ensuring a lifetime of happiness for both you and your new best friend.
We invite you to be part of our mission and see the difference a second chance can make. Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in volunteering, or want to support us through a donation, your involvement helps us continue to be the little shelter that does.
