C.A.R.E. Animal Rescue
Our Mission
Castaway Animals Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to saving lives and serving as a voice for animals who cannot speak for themselves. We strive to provide safety, healing, and the loving homes our rescue animals so richly deserve.
Our History and Purpose
Established in 1992, C.A.R.E. has grown from humble, grassroots beginnings into southwest Missouri's largest no-kill shelter. We exist to address the critical need for animal welfare in our region, providing a sanctuary and rescue services for hundreds of homeless animals every year.
Our Unique Care Model
We are proud to offer a cage-free shelter environment where our cats and dogs spend their days in comfortable, spacious rooms rather than traditional kennels. This innovative approach significantly reduces stress and allows each animal’s true personality to shine through. While our Springfield center serves as our primary adoption hub, our peaceful sanctuary near Aurora provides specialized, long-term rehabilitation for animals with extra medical or emotional needs.
Your Partner in Adoption
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and our counselors are here to ensure we make the perfect match for both you and your new companion. We take great care in our process, including behavioral assessments and medical screenings, to ensure every pet is ready to thrive in their new home. We even offer a 30-day adjustment period, providing you with the peace of mind that comes from knowing we are committed to your success.
