Five Acres Animal Shelter
Our Mission
Five Acres Animal Shelter is dedicated to ending pet homelessness, promoting responsible pet ownership, and advocating for animal welfare in our community. We believe in providing a vital safety net for both pets and their people.
Why We Exist
We see ourselves as a small but mighty team of 25 staff members who work tirelessly to ensure every animal receives the care, comfort, and love they deserve. Our organization is powered by the generosity of our community, as we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that receives no government funding or national support.
How We Help
Every year, we welcome more than 1,600 homeless cats and dogs into our facility, where we prioritize creating an environment that is not just safe and clean, but truly enriching and relaxing. We are committed to fostering deep connections between humans and animals through our shelter operations, robust foster programs, and community-focused resources like our AniMeals food pantry and low-cost veterinary services.
The Adopter Connection
Adoption is a joyful milestone, and our team is here to help you find the perfect four-legged family member to fit your lifestyle. We are proud of our 98% to 99% placement rate, which reflects our dedication to ensuring that every animal finds a loving, forever home where they can thrive.

9/23 - A BIG thank you to @tutailwags for always jumping in to help our dogs in need of a little extra TLC! 🐾✂️💕 Just look at how AMAZING our new arrival Benji looks after his groom yesterday! They did such a wonderful job, and we especially appreciate that his groomer even followed up with us at the end of the day to check on him after his appointment. That kind of care means so much! 😍❤️ A quick Benji update: He is NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. He’s still settling and getting checked in by our medical team, so he needs a little time before he’s ready to find his forever family. Keep an eye on our website for this handsome boy’s pretty face if you’re interested in Benji! 👀💙
