Since opening in 1999, the St. Charles County Pet Adoption Center has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community by sheltering, caring for, and finding loving, forever homes for pets in need. We are committed to fostering community engagement and enhancing animal welfare through every interaction.
As part of the Division of Humane Services, we operate as an open-admissions shelter, welcoming authorized stray animals regardless of their background. Our facility serves as a vital resource for our community, not only providing a safe haven for pets but also working to reunite lost animals with their owners and enforcing local animal control ordinances.
We believe every animal deserves a chance at happiness. Our team does not impose time limits on adoptable pets, caring for them as long as we have space and they remain healthy. To help our animals thrive, we utilize a very active foster program and partner with other rescue groups, ensuring that every pet—especially those with special needs—receives the attention they deserve.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and our staff is here to help you make the best possible connection. We work hard to understand the history and temperament of each animal so that your new family member transitions smoothly into your home. When you adopt from us, you receive the added benefit of a health examination, initial vaccinations, spay or neuter services, microchipping, and temperament guidance.
We invite you to experience the rewarding process of bringing a new pet home. Browse our available pets online or visit our facility in St. Peters to meet your future companion in person. Together, we can create wonderful new beginnings for pets in need.
