Kearney Area Animal Shelter

Saving Lives, One Paw at a Time

At the Kearney Area Animal Shelter, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and find forever homes for every dog and cat that comes through our doors. We are dedicated to providing a safe, healthy, and loving environment for every animal while they wait for their new beginning.

Our Commitment to Kearney

We are a privately owned, non-profit, no-kill shelter located in Kearney, Nebraska, serving the local community and Buffalo County. Because we believe every animal deserves a second chance, we never euthanize due to space or time constraints.

Our Approach to Care

Our facility is supported by generous public donations and contributions from the City of Kearney and Buffalo County. Every animal in our care receives essential medical attention, including spay/neuter services, vaccinations, and microchipping, to ensure they are ready for their transition to a family home.

Building Lifelong Friendships

We believe in the power of adoption to bring joy and fulfillment to your life while making a positive impact on animal welfare. Our team works hard to make the process smooth and rewarding, helping you find the perfect, behaviorally sound companion who matches your family and lifestyle.

Join Us in Our Mission

Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in fostering a pet in need, or want to volunteer your time, there are many ways to get involved. Please visit our shelter at 3205 W Hwy 30 in Kearney, or browse our available pets online to find your new best friend today.

10/8 - LOOK AT MERIDA GO! If you’ve been following Merida’s story, you know just how far this sweet girl has come. After arriving at KAAS paralyzed from being shot, she’s been working hard and she just keeps improving!🥹 And now… she’s up and walking on ALL FOUR LEGS! This video is a pretty amazing reminder of how far she’s come. She may still have some special needs and will need a home with carpet or area rugs to help her get the traction she needs, but she has proven that she isn’t giving up! If you’re interested in Merida or have any question, please stop into KAAS or give us a call! #kearneynebraska #KearneyNE #nebraska #catsofkearney
