Our Mission
The Jersey Shore Animal Center is dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and rehoming unwanted, abused, and abandoned animals. Our goal is to provide a place of refuge, safety, and kindness while finding the loving forever homes our animals so richly deserve.
Our History and Community
Established in 1981 as a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we have served the community for decades without the help of federal, state, or county funding. Our mission is made possible by our dedicated volunteer Board of Directors, full and part-time personnel, and a passionate team of over 80 volunteers who strive to be a leader in pet adoptions throughout Ocean and Monmouth counties.
Our Care Model
We operate as a shelter facility where our animals receive medical attention, including access to our own low-cost spay/neuter clinic. Our supportive foster network also plays an integral role, helping pets recover from trauma and prepare for life in a permanent home. We also focus on community education, pet therapy in nursing homes, and reuniting lost pets with their owners.
