The mission of the Jersey Shore Animal Center is to rescue, care for, and rehome unwanted, abused, abandoned, and sick animals. We strive to be a place of refuge, safety, love, and kindness for every animal that comes through our doors.
Established in 1981, we are a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to our community in Ocean, Monmouth, and surrounding counties. We receive no federal, state, or county funding, relying entirely on the generosity of private donors to support our mission and provide care for our animals.
We provide a safe, nurturing shelter environment where our team—including dedicated staff and over 80 active volunteers—works daily to provide medical care, socialization, and comfort to our residents. Beyond shelter care, we operate a low-cost spay/neuter clinic and work to educate the public on responsible pet ownership, pet therapy, and the importance of helping lost pets reunite with their families.
Adoption is a joyful journey, and we believe in thoughtful, unhurried matching to ensure every pet finds their forever home. Our adoption process is designed to help us select the right pet for your specific lifestyle, home environment, and family, including senior pets looking for a second chance. Because we are committed to responsible placement, we require all applicants to meet with us in person, where our volunteers will guide you through our facility and help you connect with your potential new best friend.
Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in fostering, or looking to support our mission through donations or volunteering, there are many ways to make a difference. Please explore our website to view our currently adoptable animals or visit us in Brick, New Jersey, to learn more about how you can help us provide hope to those who enter our care.
