Animals In Distress, Inc.
Our Mission
Animals In Distress is a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue committed to saving cats from difficult situations and giving them a second chance at a brighter future. We believe that every feline deserves the medical care, socialization, and individualized attention they need to heal and thrive.
Serving Cats Since 1968
Our journey began in 1968, and we have spent decades serving the community in Hamilton, Mercer County, New Jersey. We step in to help the cats who need us most: those found on the streets, abandoned house cats, and individuals in need of urgent medical support or rehabilitation.
Our Care Model
Our rescue is powered entirely by a compassionate, volunteer-run team. Cats in our care reside either in our adoption room—affectionately known as The Cat Cottage—or in the warm, supportive environments of our dedicated foster homes. This network allows us to provide essential medical care, from surgery recovery to social rehabilitation, while preparing our feline friends for their forever homes.
Your Partner in Adoption
We believe in the power of a perfect match. Because we invest so much time, energy, and love into the well-being of every cat, our thoughtful adoption process focuses on creating lasting, successful unions that bring joy to both the cat and the person who welcomes them home. We remain committed to our adopters long after the adoption is finalized, offering support whenever you need us.
