Our Mission
Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and finding loving homes for adult and senior German Shepherds. We strive to be a voice for these loyal, intelligent dogs who often fall through the cracks of the traditional shelter system.
Our History and Purpose
Founded in the fall of 2014, our sanctuary was built on the belief that senior dogs deserve a beautiful second chapter. While our focus is on German Shepherds, we are proud to occasionally assist large breed shepherd mixes that are in need of a fresh start.
How We Operate
Because we do not have our own physical facility, we rely on a dedicated network of foster homes and rescue-friendly boarding locations to provide a safe, nurturing environment. Sedona Shepherd covers all medical costs for our foster dogs, ensuring each animal receives the care they need while they await their forever family. We operate primarily in New Jersey, while working collaboratively with rescues throughout the Northeast to expand our reach.

These dogs often bring a calm, affectionate presence into a home, offering the same love as a puppy without the intense training demands of a younger dog.
