Our Mission
Together, we can improve the lives of cats in our community. Our mission is to provide a safe and peaceful haven for homeless, abandoned, or abused animals while working to decrease the number of cats destroyed in kill shelters.
Our Story
Founded in 2010 by sisters Christie and Michelle Arlotta, we began as Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society to bring a positive light to animal rescue. In 2023, we rebranded as the Karma Cat Rescue Society to fully focus our expertise and passion on what we do best: helping cats. We are a volunteer-run, New Jersey-based nonprofit committed to creating a world where every companion animal is respected and safe.
The Karma Cat Way
We operate through a collaborative network of dedicated volunteers, foster homes, and our adoption center in Milltown. Rather than isolated departments, we use the Karma Cat Circle to ensure every team member—from medical and fostering to outreach and TNR—supports one another. This connected community approach ensures our cats receive the attentive, high-quality care they need while they wait for their forever families.

10/10 - Karma Cat Rescue Society Presents: Black Cat Bash 3.0 🕖 10.17.26 – 7pm 📍East Brunswick, NJ Karma Cat invites one and all to partake in a Pre-Hallows Eve Event full of enchanting entertainment and spooky delights! Join us under the veil of moonlight for a night of mystique and enchantment at our 3rd annual Black Cat Bash Fundraiser. It promises to be an evening filled with dark delights in support of a worthy cause. All attendees must be between 21 and 2000 years old. What to expect? 9/29 - We started in 2010 with a folding table at PetSmart. 🐾 Sixteen years later, we've found homes for over 2,960 cats and helped fix over 1,970 community cats through TNR. Our new video traces that whole journey, from our early days, to opening our first storefront in 2018, to who we are today as Karma Cat Rescue Society at 39 S. Main Street in Milltown. Volunteers, fosters, transport days, colony cats, and a lot of good cats along the way.
