BARKS (Byram Animal Rescue Kindness Squad
Our Mission
BARKS, which stands for Byram Animal Rescue Kindness Squad, is dedicated to providing compassionate rescue and care to animals in need. We are committed to helping cats and dogs find their forever homes through our work as a no-kill animal shelter.
A History of Kindness
Since 1973, we have been matching animals with loving families in our community. Over the decades, our mission has grown annually, and we are incredibly grateful for the compassion and dedication of the supporters who make our ongoing work possible.
How We Care
We operate a no-kill shelter in Newton, New Jersey, where our staff and volunteers work hard to ensure every cat and dog is healthy, safe, and socialized. Our hands-on team manages everything from daily care and cleaning to public adoption events throughout the region. We are supported by a wonderful community that contributes time, donations, and events to help our animals thrive while they wait for their new families.
The Joy of Adoption
Adoption is the start of a beautiful, lifelong partnership, and we take pride in being thoughtful matchmakers. Whether you are looking for a playful companion or a calm new friend, our goal is to help you find the perfect match for your lifestyle. We encourage you to meet our adorable adoptables and witness the happiness these animals bring to their families.
