Our Mission
The Friends of the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter are dedicated to preventing cruelty, promoting kindness, and reducing the population of homeless companion animals in Southern Ocean County. We work tirelessly to promote shelter pet adoptions through community outreach and public relations.
Our Story
Organized in 1990, our group was founded with a clear goal: to establish a dedicated animal shelter for southern Ocean County. With the support of local leadership, including Stafford Township, we successfully brought the Southern Ocean County Animal Facility to our community, ensuring our local pets have a safe place to go.
How We Care
We operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, providing essential shelter equipment and supplementary veterinary care to maintain high standards for all residents. Beyond the shelter, our dedicated volunteers support homeless cats and kittens through foster programs, specialized bottle-feeding initiatives, and active Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) efforts to help control local feral populations.
