ACTion Programs for Animals (APA) is dedicated to offering life-saving programs and services to rescue at-risk companion animals in Doña Ana County. We strive to support people and their pets in living healthy, happy lives together while envisioning a community where all animals are treated with kindness and respect.
Since our founding in May 2012, we have rescued more than 6,800 animals, primarily dogs and cats pulled from our local municipal shelter. Operating like a small business with a progressive, modern approach to animal welfare, we are committed to helping our community become a No Kill success story. We rely entirely on the generous support of our donors and volunteers to continue this vital work.
We work tirelessly through our adoption center, foster families, and dedicated staff to provide 24/7/365 care for up to 100 animals at a time. Our programs are uniquely holistic, ranging from our P.A.W.S. prison dog training program, which prepares dogs for family life, to our local pet food bank that supports thousands of families. Whether in a kennel at our center or in a loving foster home, every animal receives our full commitment for the duration of their lives.
When you adopt from APA, you are gaining a partner for the life of your animal. We are deeply committed to our rescues and always welcome them back should your circumstances change, providing support and guidance long after you bring your new family member home. Our goal is to make every match a lifelong, joyful success for both the human and the animal.
We invite you to come meet your new best friend at our Furrever Home Adoption and Education Center at 537 N. Solano in Las Cruces. You can visit us during our open hours on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday, or call 575-644-0505 to schedule an appointment. We look forward to helping you find your perfect companion!
