Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley

Our Mission

At the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley (ASCMV), our mission is to provide safe shelter for all lost, mistreated, and abandoned animals in our community. We are dedicated to placing each animal into a safe, loving, and permanent home while promoting responsible pet ownership through education and outreach.

Our Roots and Community

Established in August 2008, the ASCMV was formed through a joint powers agreement between the City of Las Cruces and Doña Ana County. As the region's only open-admission municipal animal shelter, we proudly serve our community by maintaining a high-capacity facility for those who need us most.

Our Commitment to Care

We are a progressive organization guided by the internationally recognized Five Freedoms of animal welfare. From providing for basic needs like nutrition and comfort to ensuring mental and physical well-being, our team and volunteers work tirelessly to create a humane environment for every animal in our care.

Your Partner in Adoption

When you adopt from the ASCMV, you aren't just gaining a companion; you are changing a life. We strive to create the perfect match, ensuring our animals find their forever families while providing the support you need to make the transition a joyful experience for everyone involved.

Get Involved

Whether you are ready to open your heart to a new pet, interested in becoming a volunteer, or want to explore our foster program, we invite you to connect with us. Visit our website to view our currently adoptable animals or come by our facility in Las Cruces to see how you can make a difference today.
