Our Mission
Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary strives to be a leader in the care and placement of cats and dogs as animal companions in nurturing homes. We envision a community in which all domestic animals are well cared for and no animal must be euthanized because they cannot find a compassionate home.
Our History
Founded in 1996, our sanctuary was established by a group of animal lovers in the Las Cruces area who envisioned a local facility modeled after the nation's largest no-kill organizations. For over 30 years, we have proudly served abandoned pets, providing a safe, dignified life for dogs and cats in need.
Our Sanctuary
Located on a three-acre property just 10 miles east of Las Cruces, our facility includes a cattery, dog kennels, isolation units, and a play area. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are completely independent, receiving no municipal, state, or federal government funding. We rely entirely on the generosity of our community through donations, bequests, and our thrift store to maintain our no-kill environment for up to 45 dogs and 35 cats.

When you adopt from Safe Haven, you provide a pet with a happy new life while creating space for another animal in need. We focus on responsible placement to ensure each animal finds a perfect match, and our adoption fees help cover essential vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, and medical care.
