Our Mission
Since 1939, the Santa Fe Animal Shelter has been dedicated to a simple, powerful mission: to support animals, save lives, and spread compassion. We believe that every pet deserves a loving home and a life filled with care and dignity.
Our Story
Built by our community, the shelter has grown significantly from its original roots to our current 100-acre campus. Our facilities, including the Lapides Adoption Center and the Robin Sommers Animal Admissions & Care Center, were designed to provide the highest standard of health and comfort for every animal in our care.
How We Care
Our shelter operates as a vibrant, community-focused haven, featuring specialized spaces for enrichment and high-tech care. From cozy cat colony rooms to dog kennels with radiant floor heating, we provide a safe environment while animals wait for their forever families. We also offer extensive outreach, including spay/neuter programs and the CASA program, to ensure pets stay healthy and happy with the people who love them.
