Since 1939, the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society has been dedicated to our mission to support animals, save lives, and spread compassion. We believe in creating a community where every animal is treated with dignity and care.
For over eight decades, we have served as a vital resource for our community. In 2005, we moved to our current 100-acre campus, designed specifically to provide higher levels of care through modern facilities like the Lapides Adoption Center and the Clare Eddy Thaw Hospital.
We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides a comprehensive approach to animal welfare, from accessible spay/neuter programs to behavior rehabilitation. Our shelter features walking trails, play yards for daily enrichment, and home-like cuddle rooms to ensure our residents stay comfortable while awaiting their forever families.
We believe the best place for a companion animal is in a home with people who love them, and our matchmaking process is designed to help you find a compatible, lifelong friend. We take pride in our transparent approach and provide ongoing resources to help you and your new pet build a lasting, joyful bond together.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or simply visit, we invite you to experience the difference our community-built shelter makes. Explore our available pets online or come see us at 100 Caja del Rio Road to find your new best friend today!
