People for Animal Welfare Society/Paws
Our Mission
At the People For Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Orleans County, we are dedicated to helping homeless pets find their forever families. Every day, we strive to provide a safe, nurturing environment for animals awaiting their second chance at happiness.
Our History and Community
Established in 1981, PAWS has spent over four decades serving the animals of Orleans County, New York. As a non-profit, no-kill shelter, we remain committed to protecting the welfare of our local companions and ensuring they receive the care and respect they deserve.
Our Commitment to Care
Our organization operates a dedicated shelter facility located at 3371 Gaines Basin Road in Albion. We ensure that every pet in our care is up to date on vaccinations and has been spayed or neutered before finding their new home. By maintaining these high standards, we provide a healthy foundation for every animal’s transition into their new life.
The Adoption Partnership
We believe that thoughtful matching is the key to a lifetime of love. Because we want to ensure the best fit for both you and your potential companion, our process includes a review of your application, a check of your veterinary records, and a requirement for a fenced yard for dog adoptions. This careful approach helps us create lasting, joyful partnerships that benefit both the adopter and the pet.
