Adopt-A-Dog Inc.
Our Mission
Adopt-A-Dog Inc. is dedicated to saving, socializing, and securing loving homes for abandoned and unwanted dogs. We believe in the transformative magic of adoption to change lives forever.
Our Story and Community
Since our founding in 1981, we have served as a compassionate resource for our local community. We are not just a shelter; we are a community-driven organization that collaborates with both local and southern shelters to provide a lifeline for homeless pets in need.
Our Care Model
As a limited admission shelter located in Armonk, New York, we provide the highest standard of care for our dogs, with a deep focus on their overall health and well-being. By blending our shelter environment with a dedicated network of foster families, we ensure every dog receives the love, trust, and socialization they need to thrive before finding their forever home.
The Joy of Adoption
When you choose to adopt, you are not just bringing a furry friend into your life; you are choosing to be the hero in their story. We take great care to match every dog with the right family, ensuring a bond that enriches your days and fills your heart with gratitude. This heartwarming pay-it-forward approach creates space for us to rescue another precious soul in need.

10/9 - Barking up the right tree at Wooffstock - Halston Media Group
Wooffstock’s third annual pet adoption day in Pound Ridge was a howlin’ success. Most of the dogs – and all of the cats – found forever homes, said one of the event’s organizers, Nadine Ashby.
9/14 - Adopt-A-Dog’s 38th Annual Puttin’ On The Dog Festival Set for Sunday, Sept 27
This year’s festival will also serve as a filming location for The Adoptables, a new comedy series created by Greenwich native Blake Sherwyn that parodies The Real Housewives and features a cast of real-life shelter dogs from Adopt-A-Dog.
5/21 - Greenwich 8th Grade Capstone Project Highlights Benefits of Pet Rescue
If you are not currently in a position to bring a pet into your home, you can still play a vital role in contributing to these wonderful organizations. Consider reaching out to these shelters to discuss temporary fostering opportunities, which get animals out of kennels and into a home environment. Additionally, these nonprofits rely entirely on financial donations, volunteer kennel assistance, and supplies from their public wish lists to keep their doors open. – Ava Caroll

9/22 - Last week in Central Park. ❤️ IronStrength × Forever Home Run Club × Adopt a Dog Shelter dogs. Running. Community. A little love. We ran some hills for their health (and ours), raised funds for a terrific initiative, and may even have helped a few dogs find their forever homes. 🐶 Thank you to everyone who showed up, ran, donated, and helped make it happen. New York can feel like a small town when individual acts of kindness make a big difference. One run, one dog, one act of kindness at a time. ❤️ (DM us if you want to make a donation!)
