Volunteers for Animals
Our Mission
Volunteers For Animals of Batavia is dedicated to providing care, comfort, and protection to companion animals in need throughout Genesee County, NY. By engaging the hands, hearts, and minds of our community, we strive to promote kindness and secure loving homes for every pet.
Our History and Purpose
Since 1984, our organization has worked hand-in-hand with the Genesee County Animal Shelter to save lives. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we operate under a unique partnership model where two separate organizations work under one roof to ensure every animal receives the attention and care they deserve.
How We Care for Animals
Our dedicated volunteers provide essential services ranging from daily care and cleaning to funding vital medical treatments and vaccines. We coordinate kitten foster programs, manage off-site adoption locations, and support animal well-being through initiatives like our low-cost spay and neuter voucher program. Through the hard work of our volunteers, we consistently maintain high live-release rates, focusing on the health and future of every animal in our care.
A Meaningful Partnership
Adopting is one of the best things you can do, and we believe in making that experience a joyful journey for you and your new companion. When you adopt a shelter pet, you truly save two lives: the one you bring home and the one who takes its place in our care. Our team is here to support you in finding the perfect match that fits your life and values.
