SNARR Northeast (Special Needs Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation) is dedicated to saving the toughest dogs to place, providing a second chance to those who are often overlooked in shelters. We believe in providing a path to happiness for every animal, no matter their medical or personal needs.
Founded in 2011 by Courtney Bellew, our organization began with a simple passion to help vulnerable animals in our local community. Based in Westchester County, New York, we recognized a critical need to bridge the gap for dogs facing serious medical conditions, injuries, or neglect, ensuring they receive the care and compassion they deserve.
We operate as a committed community of foster homes and a dedicated physical adoption center in Brewster, NY. Rather than simply moving dogs from one shelter to another, we provide a nurturing environment where we can rehabilitate, train, and socialize each animal. Our team works tirelessly to manage everything from specialized medical care to daily enrichment, ensuring our dogs feel loved as they wait for their forever families.
We prioritize the happiness of both our pets and our adopters by carefully screening each application to ensure the best possible fit. Our thoughtful adoption process, which includes vet and reference checks, allows us to build lasting relationships that prioritize the long-term success of every dog. We invite you to join our family of volunteers and adopters, as we work together to give these deserving animals the lives they’ve always dreamed of.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our available dogs online or contact us to schedule an appointment at our adoption center. Together, we can make a difference in the life of a shelter pet.
