SPCA Westchester is dedicated to providing life-changing care for animals through rescue and rehabilitation, justice, community education, and successful, lasting adoptions. We strive for a future where every companion animal in our community is safe, loved, and thriving.
Founded in 1883 by Mary Dusenberry to protect horses from abuse, we are one of the oldest humane societies in the United States. As an independent 501(c)(3) organization not affiliated with any national animal welfare groups, we rely entirely on the generosity of our local community to support the more than 5,500 animals we serve each year.
We are a proud No-Kill Rescue Center, operating out of our modern, 27,000-square-foot Animal Rescue Center in Briarcliff Manor. Our facility provides a safe haven for animals in need, supported by our comprehensive programs including rescue, humane law enforcement, and a dedicated foster care network. Every animal in our care receives professional medical attention and enrichment as they wait for their new families.
We believe in the power of thoughtful matching to create lifelong bonds between pets and their people. Our experienced adoption counselors work closely with you to understand your lifestyle, ensuring that every adoption is a perfect fit for both you and your new four-legged companion. Because we are a positive-reinforcement-only facility, we equip our adopters with the resources and guidance needed to ensure a smooth transition for your new family member.
Whether you are ready to open your heart to a new pet, interested in becoming a foster, or looking to support our lifesaving work through a donation, you are an essential part of our success. We invite you to visit our Rescue Center in Briarcliff Manor to meet our adorable adoptables and see our mission in action. Together, we can continue to provide a voice and a home to animals in need.
