AMA Animal Rescue

Our Mission

AMA Animal Rescue, also known as Angels for Mistreated Animals, is dedicated to safeguarding and rehabilitating animals who have experienced severe cases of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. We work tirelessly to create loving futures and erase painful pasts for every companion in our care.

Who We Are

Established as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization in 2014, we operate as a no-kill shelter based in Brooklyn, New York. Since our inception, we have saved countless sick, injured, and abused pets from near death, both domestically and abroad, turning desperation into hope.

How We Help

Our commitment to animal welfare is brought to life within our 1,200-square-foot facility, which features clean enclosures and a fenced-in outdoor space for our residents to thrive. Through efficient operations and the support of our dedicated volunteers and staff, we provide medical care and behavioral rehabilitation to ensure every animal is ready for a forever home.

The Adopter Connection

We believe that adopting a pet is a partnership that changes the world. Our thoughtful adoption process, which includes an application and home visit, ensures that our rescued pets find safe, comfortable, and loving environments where they can truly flourish. When you choose to adopt, you aren't just gaining a companion; you are giving a deserving animal a beautiful second chance.

10/7 - 💔 SENIOR MICKEY HAS AN EYE ULCER AND HEART ISSUES. 💔PLEASE HELP! 💔 Our senior boy Mickey has been with us for several years. When we first rescued him, he was severely neglected and so badly matted he could barely see. His owners told us they were simply waiting for him to die. We promised Mickey that from that moment on, he would always receive the love and care he deserved. Now, he needs our help again. Because of his heart issues, Mickey needs an echocardiogram. At the same time, he suddenly began squinting badly, so we rushed him to an eye specialist, where he was diagnosed with a painful eye ulcer. Between his cardiology care, eye specialist, testing, treatment, and follow-ups, the bills are adding up quickly. Please help us continue keeping the promise we made to Mickey. Any donation toward his medical care would mean so much. Thank you! . . #yorkie #yorkiegram #yorkshireterrier #seniordog #dog

10/5 - 💔 THOMAS BREAKS OUR HEARTS AGAIN… 💔 Thomas has already been through so much. He was hit by a car and miraculously survived. Later, a mass was discovered in his mouth and had to be removed. Then came another devastating diagnosis: cancer. Thankfully, his cancer appears to be under control, but recently Thomas suddenly began vomiting and showing signs of distress. He wasn’t feeling well, and with his age and medical history, we couldn’t take any chances. We rushed him to the hospital. Thomas needed supportive care, extensive blood work, X-rays, and a urinalysis. His doctors also suspect a thyroid condition, which required additional blood work and testing. All of these tests and treatments cost us over $1,000! Thomas has already fought through so much, and we want to make sure he continues receiving every bit of care he needs. But we can’t do it without your help. Please donate to Thomas’s medical care today. Even a few dollars can make a difference for our sweet senior boy. . . #donate #cat #persiancats #cats #cats_of_instagram

10/2 - 💔 URGENT HELP NEEDED! 💔 Hours before we opened, two small dogs were crammed into a tiny carrier and abandoned outside our shelter. When we rushed over, they were gone. We were terrified that someone had taken them or that something terrible had happened. Thankfully, we eventually learned that a nearby store owner had brought them inside to keep them safe until we opened. Both dogs were filthy, covered in urine and feces, and clearly neglected. One had an extremely enlarged abdomen and appeared pregnant, so we rushed them both to the vet. X-rays confirmed she is not pregnant, but doctors now suspect Cushing’s disease, which requires additional testing. Both also have severely rotten teeth and need dental procedures, blood work, vaccinations, and more. They are extremely bonded and want to be together constantly, but neither is fixed. We need to spay and neuter them as soon as possible so they can safely remain together without the risk of an unwanted litter. Their medical bills are quickly adding up, and we urgently need your help. Please donate toward their medical care (bloods, x-rays, other tests, medicine, vaccines, spay/neuter etc) and everything else these two little dogs need. They were abandoned by the people who were supposed to care for them. Now they are depending on us and we are depending on you. . . #dog #toypoodle #poodle #poodlelife #poodlelover

9/30 - OUR WORST FEARS HAPPENED! By the time we’ve arrived to open the shelter, the dogs were gone. No one knew who had taken them or where they went, and we feared the worst. Thankfully, later in a day they were brought back. A nearby store had taken them inside after seeing that they appeared to be in distress. Both dogs will have to be seen by a vet as soon as possible. One appears extremely bloated and may be pregnant. Please donate to help us provide the care these two little ones desperately need. Updates to follow! . . #toypoodle #poodle #poodlelife #dog #dogs
