We are a volunteer-driven, woman-owned community space dedicated to reducing cat homelessness through rescue, education, TNR, and outreach. As New York City’s only non-profit cat cafe, we provide a welcoming environment where visitors can connect with adoptable rescues in a comfortable, home-like setting.
Our Mission and History
Founded in 2007 by the Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition (BBAWC), our mission has always been to improve the lives of homeless animals through adoption support and accessible veterinary care. Since opening our doors in Brooklyn Heights in 2016, we have transformed from a simple meeting place into a vibrant community hub that has helped thousands of cats find their forever homes.
Our Care Model
We believe that every cat deserves a safe start, which is why we operate through a robust, foster-based network. Our rescued cats are nurtured in volunteer homes before they ever reach our cafe, ensuring they are socialized, healthy, and ready to meet their new families. This unique approach allows us to save more lives while providing a high-quality, community-centered experience for every cat in our care.
