Susquehanna SPCA

Our Mission

The Susquehanna SPCA is dedicated to building a future where every companion animal is guaranteed a loving home. We work tirelessly to alleviate animal suffering and provide compassionate care for stray, surrendered, and homeless animals throughout Otsego County.

Our Story

Since 1917, we have been a steadfast advocate for the welfare of animals in our community. In 2021, we transitioned into our modern, state-of-the-art facility in Cooperstown, designed specifically to enhance animal health and provide a comfortable, low-stress environment for both our residents and our visitors.

How We Care

Our shelter operations are supported by a passionate team and a vital network of foster families who help us expand our capacity to care for animals in need. We provide comprehensive medical services, including spay/neuter and wellness care, while maintaining a clean, secure, and welcoming space for animals awaiting their forever families. From dogs and cats to our newer initiatives for farm animals, we prioritize the physical and emotional well-being of every creature that enters our doors.

Your Partner in Adoption

We believe that successful adoptions are built on personal, conversation-based counseling that helps us understand your unique lifestyle. By getting to know you as an individual, we can help you find a perfect, lifelong match. Our goal is to make the adoption process transparent and joyful, ensuring you leave with a companion who fits seamlessly into your home.

Meet Your New Best Friend

We invite you to visit our facility in Cooperstown to meet our adoptable residents. Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in fostering, or want to learn more about our programs, we are here to support you. Please join us in our commitment to kindness—stop by today or browse our available pets online to begin your journey.
