The North Country Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NCSPCA) provides refuge for cats and dogs who have been surrendered, abandoned, or abused. Our mission is to relieve their suffering and create a community in which animals are respected and valued.
Located in the heart of the Adirondack Park, we are the only SPCA shelter in rural Essex County, New York. We operate as a no-kill shelter, dedicated to providing individual attention, medical treatment, and compassionate care to every animal that enters our doors.
Our dedicated staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that every animal is thoroughly assessed, socialized, and trained. We provide top-quality medical care, including vaccinations and spay/neuter services, to ensure our rescues are healthy and ready for their next chapter. We believe in giving each animal a second chance—and sometimes a first chance—at the loving home they truly deserve.
Adopting a pet is an exciting and rewarding journey that teaches us about love, loyalty, and responsibility. We carefully screen applicants to ensure that each placement is a perfect match for both the animal and the family. We encourage you to evaluate your lifestyle and needs so we can help you find a companion who will thrive in your home for many years to come.
As a non-profit organization that receives no government funding, we rely on the generosity of people like you to continue our vital work. We invite you to browse our available animals or reach out to us at 518-873-5000 to learn more about our adoption process. Come visit us in Elizabethtown and meet your new best friend today!
