Paws Crossed Animal Rescue Inc.
Our Mission
At Paws Crossed Animal Rescue, our mission is simple: to rescue one by one until there are none. We are dedicated to creating a better world for pets and people through a unified, supportive community.
Our Story
Founded on August 4th, 2015, and officially opening our doors on September 17th, 2016, our organization was built by a group of passionate individuals determined to keep a local animal rescue presence alive in Westchester County. Since our beginnings, we have been a private, donation-reliant organization, committed to doing the right thing with integrity and ethics for every animal in our care.
How We Help
We operate out of our facility in Elmsford, NY, providing a safe, high-quality environment for pets while they wait for their forever homes. Our work is powered by the belief that rescue, rehabilitation, and education are the keys to saving lives. Beyond traditional rescue, we offer innovative community services like Community Kibble to support pet owners in need and Puppies on the Block, a transformative program that pairs rescue dogs with incarcerated individuals for mutual healing.
Joining Our Family
Adopting a pet is one of the most exciting journeys you can take, and our adoption counselors are here to ensure you find the perfect fit for your lifestyle. When you adopt from us, you aren't just changing the life of the pet you take home; you are also opening a space for us to save another animal in need.
Take the Next Step
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our available dogs and cats online or visit us at our Elmsford location to tour our kennels and cat rooms. You can also join our growing family of volunteers or support our mission by making a gift today to help us continue our life-saving work.

10/6 - 💙🐾 THE @bluebuffalo FOOD DROP OF 2026! 🐾💙 NINE YEARS. Nine years of Paws Crossed being entrusted as the East Coast hub for this incredible gift from Blue Buffalo ... and every year, we are overwhelmed with gratitude. Knowing this generosity will fill bowls and bellies across our rescue community is something that never gets old. 🥹💙 This year, nearly 43,000 pounds of Blue Buffalo food were distributed to more than 20 shelters and rescues! 🐶🐱 What an undertaking... but what an incredible gift. And perhaps one of the best parts is watching our rescue community come together. Organizations pick up their food, help one another load and transport it, and make sure everyone gets what they need. It’s a beautiful reminder that when we come together, we can do so much more for the pets who depend on us. It really is rescue at its very best! 🙌 A HUGE thank you to our amazing neighbors @thalleindustries ., who once again lent us their forklift and awesome operators to help unload this mountain of food! We couldn’t do it without you! ⭐️ And a very special thank you to our friends @hwac , who recruited Paws Crossed for this monumental distribution nine years ago. We are so grateful for your friendship, generosity and kindness ... always!!! 💙 And, of course… 💙 BLUE BUFFALO — THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! 💙 Thank you for your incredible generosity and for all you do for animal health, rescue, and advocacy. Because of you, thousands of furry faces will have full bowls and happy bellies. 🐾🥰 #wearefamily #todaytomorrowtogether #justwow #BestCommunityEver

10/3 - #ALUMHour — Iris (FKA Paloma) is here to remind everyone that clicker training isn’t just for dogs! 😹 This gorgeous girl has been putting her kitty brain to work and learning some pretty impressive tricks for treats! A little turn around… and then a high five?! 👏🐱 IMPRESSIVE!!! And according to her mom, Iris is just getting started! ❤️ “Iris and I have been working on some tricks… she’s sooo smart and talented. I’m excited to keep working with her haha.” We LOVE seeing our alums living their best lives ... especially when those lives include treats, tricks, and showing off just how clever they are! 😍 Way to go, Iris! 9/30 - #ALUMHour: We’re not exactly sure when THIS very specialized parade started, but we are absolutely THRILLED to have been invited!!! 😂 Our alum Maple (FKA Mia) has apparently discovered her calling ... 🎶 Her amazing family shared: “Maple (FKA Mia) is training to be a kazoo-ist! Thank YOU for all the wonderful work your team does. We are so in love with our two girls and they are spoiled rotten every single day. Best decision ever.” ❤️ Apparently Maple’s sister Charlie (FKA Marta) has decided to sit out band camp for this one. 😂🎺 We LOVE seeing our alums living their very best (and apparently very musical) lives! Thank you for giving these girls such a wonderful home ... and for sharing the laughs with us! 🥰🐾🤣 #wearefamily #todaytomorrowtogether #CutestALUMEver

9/29 - The Nose Knows! 👃 Nosework is all about slowing down, using your senses, and letting your nose lead the way. But for this video, we’re doing the opposite! 😄 We’ve sped things up so you can see a number of our super-sleuths in action as they sniff, search, problem-solve, and put those amazing noses to work. 🔎🐶 Nosework is wonderful mental enrichment that taps into a dog’s natural instincts, builds confidence, and gives them a chance to simply be a dog. And the best part? Any age, any size, any breed can play! ❤️ At Paws Crossed, sessions happen every Tuesday and Wednesday in our Rockefeller Training Room. And from January 1–August 31, 2026: 🐾 75 dogs participated 👃 389 sessions ⏰ Nearly 98 hours of enrichment! Leading the pack are Bryce with 51 sessions and Neil with 45! 🏆 A huge thank you to our amazing volunteer Geri for leading each session and setting and resetting for every pup, and to the wonderful volunteers who bring the dogs each week for this special enrichment time. ❤️ Nosework is part of our “Tail Up, Nose Down” enrichment program here at Paws Crossed ... keeping tails happy, minds engaged, and those amazing noses working! 👃🐾 #wearefamily #todaytomorrowtogether #opttoadopt #nosework #enrichment
