Our Mission
Country Acres Animal Shelter is dedicated to giving every stray animal in our care a second chance at a happy, healthy life. We strive to provide each dog with the opportunity to become a beloved member of a forever family.
Our History and The Tobias Fund
Established in 2009, our organization grew from a deep-rooted commitment to helping animals in need. We created the Tobias Fund to provide extra medical support—from orthopedic surgery to dental care—ensuring that injured or struggling dogs receive the treatment necessary to prepare them for adoption.
How We Care for Our Animals
As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, we operate a shelter facility in Homer, NY, where we focus on rehabilitating stray dogs found through our community dog control services. We do not euthanize adoptable dogs for space, and we work closely with local veterinary partners to ensure our residents receive the medical attention they deserve while awaiting their new homes.
The Joy of Adoption
Every year, we are proud to help approximately 300 dogs find new, loving families. We believe that thoughtful, compassionate matching is the key to a successful partnership between a rescue dog and their new human companions.
