Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley
Our Mission
The Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley is a dedicated, no-kill organization that provides a safe haven for animals in need. We are proud to serve as the only shelter in our county providing compassionate care for both cats and dogs.
Our Story
Founded in 1975 by community members concerned for the welfare of local stray and abandoned animals, we have remained committed to our roots for decades. In 2010, the continued support of our community allowed us to build an upgraded, modern facility to better serve our growing number of residents.
How We Provide Care
Our facility at 304 Howes Cave Road currently houses up to 33 dogs and 50 cats, with a dedicated team working to provide daily care. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are entirely funded by your generous donations, which cover vital veterinary care and medical needs. We are also excited to be developing a new state-of-the-art veterinary clinic to expand our impact and provide low-cost spay and neuter services for our neighbors.
Find Your New Best Friend
We believe in every animal's potential and are committed to helping you find the perfect companion for your family. We do not breed discriminate, ensuring that every cat and dog in our care receives an equal opportunity to find a loving forever home. We invite you to view our available animals on our Petfinder page or visit us to meet our residents in person.
