The Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA is dedicated to the protection, humane treatment, and well-being of all animals. We fulfill this vital mission through a deep commitment to community outreach, humane education, and the prevention of animal cruelty.
Our History and Community
Since our founding in 1955, we have been a cornerstone of support for both people and their companion animals in Columbia and Greene Counties. As a private organization that does not receive any federal, state, or county funding, we rely on the generosity of our community to provide the care these animals deserve.

We operate a facility with a dedicated, compassionate staff focused on providing high-quality care for animals in need. Our shelter is a no-kill facility regarding space constraints, ensuring that every animal that comes through our doors is treated with the dignity they deserve while they wait for their forever homes. From our state-of-the-art boarding wing to our low-cost veterinary clinic, we strive to support the lifelong health and happiness of pets throughout the region.
