Humane Society of Wayne County (NY)
Our Mission
The Humane Society of Wayne County is dedicated to providing a humane, compassionate facility to shelter, feed, and care for the lost, unwanted, and abused animals of our community. We believe in the power of humane education to foster a kinder future for all animals in Wayne County, New York.
Our History
Established in 1983, our organization was founded with a singular purpose: to alleviate the suffering of animals in need and promote humane values. Since opening our centralized shelter doors in 1990, we have served as a dedicated resource for pet owners and animals alike, operating as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation.
How We Help
We provide more than just a roof; we offer a supportive environment where animals are nurtured while awaiting their forever homes. Our services include pet surrender support, a lost and found registry for reunification, and our dedicated Spay Neuter Incentive Fund to help local families manage responsible pet ownership. We are entirely funded through the generosity of our members, fees, and community contributions.
Your Adoption Journey
Choosing a new companion is a joyful commitment, and we are here to ensure you find the perfect match. Our team assists families in selecting a pet that fits their specific circumstances, ensuring every animal finds a life filled with love and stability. Whether you are interested in a young companion or one of our wonderful senior animals, we provide the guidance needed to make a successful transition for both the pet and your family.
