Wayward Paws, Inc. is a dedicated, volunteer-run organization committed to rescuing and rehoming homeless cats and kittens while supporting families in need and managing community cat populations.
Founded in 2006, our organization was established to address the growing cat overpopulation problem throughout Central New York. Our team of passionate volunteers works diligently across Madison, Onondaga, Cortland, Cayuga, and Southern Oswego counties to improve the lives of cats and the communities they call home.
We operate as a unique rescue without a physical shelter facility. Instead, all of our cats and kittens live as gracious guests in our volunteers' private homes until they find their perfect forever families. This cozy, home-based environment provides each animal with the socialization and individualized care they deserve while preparing them for their new life with you.
Adopting is a joyful journey, and our goal is to help you find a companion that is the perfect fit for your lifestyle. Because our cats are raised in home environments, our volunteers gain valuable insights into their personalities and unique needs. We prioritize transparency and support throughout the adoption process to ensure a happy, lifelong partnership for both you and your new feline friend.
Whether you are looking to adopt, foster, or volunteer, there are many ways to support our mission. We invite you to view our current adoptable cats and kittens in our CAT-alogue or reach out to speak with one of our experienced cat and kitten experts. We look forward to meeting you and helping you bring a new member into your home!
