St. Lawrence Valley SPCA

Our Mission

The St. Lawrence Valley SPCA is dedicated to providing quality care for unwanted animals while promoting humane treatment and education within our community. We believe in alleviating pain and suffering through compassionate support and the advocacy of spay/neuter programs as a path toward a better future for every pet.

A Legacy of Compassion

Our organization has been a cornerstone of animal welfare since our inception in 1910. Originally founded by ten dedicated directors, we have grown over more than a century to become a trusted voice for the animals in our region, evolving into the St. Lawrence Valley SPCA in 2005 to better serve our community.

How We Provide Care

Located on 4.5 acres just outside of Ogdensburg, our shelter is more than just a building; it is a safe haven where our small team of dedicated staff provides daily maintenance and care. We operate a facility that includes a modern wing and dog runs, supported by a long-standing endowment that helps us remain resilient through changing economic times.

Your Partner in Adoption

We believe that every adoption is a joyful new beginning. Our process is designed to ensure the perfect match between our animals and their forever families, emphasizing personal visits and thoughtful questionnaires to ensure long-term success. When you adopt from us, you aren't just getting a pet; you are becoming part of a community that values the bond between people and their animal companions.

Join Us

We invite you to visit our shelter to meet the wonderful animals currently waiting for their forever homes. Please call us at 315-393-5191 to schedule an appointment during our business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, to discuss how you can make a difference in the life of a shelter pet.
