Almost Home Animal Rescue and Adoption inc.
Our Mission
Almost Home Animal Rescue and Adoption, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming unwanted, abandoned, and displaced animals from private homes and municipal shelters. We strive to help animals live a better quality of life while building a more humane community, one family at a time.
Our Story
Established in 2007 by a group of dedicated volunteers, Almost Home was built on compassion and the belief that every animal deserves a safe, loving future. Based in Long Island, New York, we work to create lasting matches between animals and the families who love them.
How We Help
We operate with a no-kill philosophy and provide support and resources that prevent animals from entering the shelter system whenever possible. Our care model relies on a compassionate team of staff and invaluable foster families who provide structure, training, and affection until our animals find their forever homes. Through our Training Wheels program, we also assist families with pet needs to help keep pets and their loved ones together.
The Adoption Partnership
Our goal is to make a perfect match between each pet and their new family. Because we pride ourselves in carefully choosing the right home for every animal, our process includes an application review, an introductory phone conversation about the pet's personality, and a home visit to ensure the best fit for both you and your new companion.

10/1 - Special guest students Baby & Tommy came to The Dawg Yard! 🎒🐾🤎🚌 This bonded pair from Almost Home Animal Rescue joined us for a day of playing, exploring and getting spoiled—and it didn’t take long for their personalities to come out. 🥹 Tommy was ready to PLAY and have some fun, while Baby showed us just how sweet and cuddly she is. They both warmed up beautifully, explored the yard, and were even brave enough to venture into the splash pad! 💦👏🏼 These two have already come such a long way and truly bring out the best in each other. Now they’re looking for a special family who will continue giving them the love, structure and security they deserve—together. 🏡❤️ If you’re interested in Baby & Tommy, please reach out to Almost Home Animal Rescue to apply and schedule a meet & greet with their foster. And even if you can’t adopt, please like, share & help us get these two seen! Their forever family could be one share away. 🐾🤎 #longisland #animalrescue #tiktok #malinois #share
