At RG CARES Animal Shelter, we believe every animal deserves compassion, safety, and a loving path home. Our mission is to be a dedicated voice for those who cannot speak for themselves, ensuring every resident is treated with the care and dignity they truly deserve.
Our Journey and Commitment
Since taking over shelter operations in September 2023, Four Legs Good, Inc. has transformed animal care in Rockland County. We operate this 501(c)(3) nonprofit facility in partnership with the community to provide a safe, healthy environment for cats, dogs, and small animals while they wait for their forever families.
How We Care for Our Residents
Our approach centers on high standards of care and a no-kill philosophy. By prioritizing daily enrichment, proper nutrition, and necessary medical treatment, we ensure every animal is physically and mentally ready for their new life. We also manage community cat populations through our humane Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) program.

10/5 - Dante is one of my favorite cat residents. October 3rd marked two years since he arrived at the shelter and unfortunately he hasn’t had any luck with finding a forever home. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him, but his illnesses have deterred potential adopters from considering him 🥺 Although he is loved and spoiled (hence, why he’s chunky), I know he would thrive in a forever home. Two years is far too long for a cat to be in a cage, and although he gets play time there is nothing better and healthier than for him to be able to walk around freely in his own home.
