At the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark, we are passionate about ensuring the protection and welfare of all animals in need. Our mission is to foster an environment of respect and compassion while nurturing the vital bond between people and their animal companions.
Our journey began in 1959 when our founder, Robert Kleinstuber, established this shelter as a heartfelt memorial to his beloved dog, Jeff. That enduring spirit of care continues to drive everything we do as we serve the Port Jervis, Deerpark, and the broader Tri-State area.
We believe in providing more than just food and shelter; our animals receive comprehensive medical treatment, behavior training, enrichment, and plenty of individual attention. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to support each animal’s recovery, often going above and beyond to ensure they are comfortable and ready for their next chapter.
We strive to match our animals with adopters based on a wide range of criteria to ensure it is a wonderful fit for both the family and the pet. By carefully observing health and personality, we help our animals find a second chance at a first-rate life. We take the time to get to know our animals so that your new family member is the right partner for your lifestyle.
We invite you to experience the rewarding process of adoption by visiting our shelter. We are open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm to showcase the great work we are doing together. Please feel free to reach out to us at (845) 856-3677 or via email to learn more about our current residents and start your adoption journey.
