Humane Society of Rome - Humane Society of Rome, INC
Our Mission
At the Humane Society of Rome, we turn second chances into forever homes by providing shelter, food, and loving care to homeless animals. We are dedicated to rescuing the abandoned, healing the injured, and promoting the adoption of pets into safe, lifelong families.
Our Commitment to the Copper City
As a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we rely entirely on the generous support of our community to continue our vital work. We receive no government or agency funding, which allows us to focus our resources directly on the animals who need us most.
How We Care for Our Animals
Our shelter on Lamphear Road serves as a safe haven where we provide daily care for cats and dogs awaiting their new families. To expand our reach and provide extra support, we utilize a dedicated foster program that allows animals to thrive in home environments while recovering from illness or preparing for adoption. We are also proud of our enrichment programs, including Reading to Rescues and our VIP Program, which provide comfort and socialization to help our pets become confident companions.
Finding Your Perfect Companion
When you choose to adopt from us, you aren’t just getting a pet—you are saving a life and welcoming a new family member into your heart. Our team works hard to understand the needs of both our animals and our adopters to ensure that every placement is a perfect, lasting match. We invite you to experience the joy of adoption and discover the unconditional love that our shelter residents have to share.
Get Involved
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? Visit us at 6247 Lamphear Road, Tuesday through Saturday, or browse our available cats and dogs online to start your journey. Whether you choose to adopt, foster, or volunteer, your support helps us build a brighter future for the animals of the Mohawk Valley.
