The Town of Saugerties Animal Shelter is dedicated to providing care and finding loving forever homes for our community's animals. We believe every pet deserves a second chance, and we work tirelessly to ensure each animal receives the attention and care they need while they wait for their new families.
Operating for over 40 years, our shelter has been a constant presence for pets in need within Saugerties. To better serve our residents and meet modern animal welfare standards, we are currently partnering with the Saugerties Animal Welfare Fund, a 501c3 organization, to build a brand-new, modern facility that will replace our current building.
Our shelter acts as a dedicated hub for animals in transition, utilizing both our physical location and a network of foster homes to provide a safe environment. We provide essential care, vetting, and socialization for our residents, including dogs, cats, and small animals, ensuring they are healthy and ready for their next journey. We are not an open-intake facility, allowing us to focus our resources on the well-being of the animals currently under our care.
We are committed to making meaningful, lasting matches between our animals and their new families. Because we believe in the importance of thoughtful adoptions, we use an application process to ensure each pet finds the right home environment. We encourage you to browse our current list of adoptable pets online and submit an application to start the conversation.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer your time, or support our building fund, there are many ways to make a difference. Please visit our website to view our adoptable animals, check our event calendar, or learn how you can support our mission. We look forward to connecting with you and helping you find your new best friend.
