Our Mission
The Central New York SPCA exists to protect animals from cruelty, provide compassionate care, and connect them with safe, loving homes while strengthening the bond between animals and our community.
Our History
Founded in 1891, our organization was born from a desire to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. What began with protecting working animals along the Erie Canal has evolved into more than 130 years of dedicated service, sheltering and advocating for abandoned and neglected animals throughout our region.
Our Care Model
We operate a professional shelter facility in Syracuse, where we provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and rehabilitation care on-site. Our team is committed to the well-being of every animal, utilizing our internal veterinary center to ensure that each pet receives the consistent, high-quality care they need while they wait for their forever family.
