Our History
Our story began in 1891 when local advocates united to protect working animals along the Erie Canal from neglect. For over 130 years, we have evolved from those early days into a dedicated team serving Central New York, consistently acting as a voice for animals who cannot speak for themselves.

Today, we operate a professional shelter facility in Syracuse, where our dedicated staff and on-site Veterinary Center provide essential medical care and rehabilitation. By combining daily sheltering with cruelty investigations, community education, and local animal welfare services, we ensure that every animal in our care receives the professional support they need to thrive.
