Humane Society of Walden
A Legacy of Compassion
The Humane Society of Walden is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit safe haven dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and rehoming stray and abandoned cats and dogs. Since 1974, our mission has been to provide every animal that comes to our door with the respect, medical attention, and safe shelter they truly deserve.
Serving Our Community
For more than 50 years, we have served as a vital resource for Walden and the surrounding area, including the towns of Montgomery, Crawford, Shawangunk, and Mamakating. We believe in partnering with local families to support the bond between people and the pets they love, ensuring our community remains a welcoming place for all.
Our Commitment to Care
Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide individualized care, comfort, and enrichment for every animal in our shelter. By maintaining a clean and calm environment, we help our residents thrive while they wait for their perfect match. We are proud of the second chances we provide and are committed to maintaining the highest standards for the animals in our care.
Finding Your Perfect Match
At the Humane Society of Walden, we believe adoption is the beginning of a beautiful, lifelong partnership. Our thoughtful, multi-step adoption process is designed to ensure that each pet is matched with a family based on lifestyle, environment, and readiness for a long-term commitment. We strive to make every adoption a joyful, successful experience for both you and your new best friend.
